After our last successful ‘Feed thy Neighbour’ project, Holborn Muslim Circles and Children of Adam are working together to deliver this very much needed initiative once again on Sunday 22nd April 2012, 6pm-8pm at Lincoln Inn Fields

After our last successful ‘Feed thy Neighbour’ project, Holborn Muslim Circles and Children of Adam are working together to deliver this very much needed initiative once again.

We received so much support and help from you all last time round, we turn to you for your generosity, support and help once again.

This initiative aims to provide the less fortunate ones and homeless within the Camden and surrounding areas with free hot food, hot drinks and clothing. What could be better and more rewarding than helping those really in need with food and warm clothing to help them through cold days and nights.

To make this happen, we need your help to assist us to publicise this very important evening. We are also looking for generous people to donate clothing including old jumpers, coats, trousers, shoes, hats, gloves and scarves. If people are unable to donate any of the above items, we would welcome donations so that we can buy items to provide for homeless and less fortunate people on the day.

Here is what you, your friends and family could do to help:
Arrange to gather unwanted clothes from homes.
What we are after are:
Adult jumpers
Adult coats/jackets
Adult hats/scarves/gloves
Only new socks and underwear
Organise a cash collection to help purchase basic toiletries for these less fortunate people
Toothpaste and toothbrushes
Shampoo/shower gels
Soaps
Handwashes

Volunteer on the evening and give something back to the community – Please email us at events.hmc@gmail.com so we can manage all the volunteers
Bring food on the day and distribute it on the evening

We can arrange to pick up unwanted clothes from you, just email us or call. Alternatively please come to Lincoln Inns Fields, Holborn, London WC2, on Sunday 22nd April – 6pm onwards.

We look forward to your prompt response and the great opportunity to work together on this noble event to help the homeless & less fortunate.

Weekend with The Greatest Man in History: Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Another successful event, titled “Muhammad (pbuh)”, delivered by Holborn Muslim Circles inspired many young Muslims in different ways. The weekend saw many ups and downs in terms of emotions as the speakers enlighten the audience about the greatest man ever to set foot on this earth, the Prophet (pbuh).

The weekend consisted of two programmes; one of which was an evening conference covering the characteristics of the beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) titled “The Prophets Smile”. The second event was a very unique and one of its kind – a one day intensive course analysing the Last and Farewell sermon of the beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Both programmes were held in East London’s, London Muslim Centre to cater for a ‘bigger than ever audience’ and as always and expected the organisers witnessed a big crowd who attended the conference from all parts of London.

The Prophets Smile, delivered by Muhammad Abul Kalam, described how the Prophet (saw) looked, how he dressed, his manners, his love for the poor and how we was around his family and children using authentic sources. The Last Sermon, delivered by Imam Abdul Malik Sheikh, saw an in-depth analysis of the last sermon, and how the all messages from the sermon can be applied to contemporary issues that Muslims and Non Muslims currently face.

In summary, both events gave an insight as to how the Prophet (pbuh) was and what he left for Muslims before departing this world. His words and inspiration was truly present throughout the whole weekend making this event an encouragement for young Muslims to do more for their families, neighbours, communities, society and humanity as a whole. This would aspire people to the greatest man ever in history.

HMC Cross the Finishing Line on their UK Mosque Challenge

Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), by the Grace of Allah, Holborn Muslim Circles have successfully smashed The UK Mosque Challenge. The team prayed 15 congregational prayers in 15 different mosques across 12 cities over the weekend. This race against time was truly challenging as there were many unexpected as well as expected hurdles the team faced however through miracles and blessing of time, not a single congregational prayer was missed!

The adventure began early Friday morning at the Regents Park Mosque at Fajr prayer, this followed an immense support and a press launch outside East London Mosque after Jumma (Friday) prayers. The community, friends, family and well-wishers came to see the team off by supporting the HMC team by expressing words of encouragement and motivation. After many interviews and conversations with the locals the team set off to Shah Jehan Mosque in Wokin, the first purpose built mosque in the UK. They then set off to Oxford Mosque, home to one of the worlds’s famous University. It was very fitting to visit the City of learning and education, because Islam encourages one to seek knowledge and keep learning to get closer to God. Sleeping in the car was a struggle but part of the challenge – just five pillows and a blanket. After some very awkward sleeping, the team set off to Leicester from Birmingham Central Mosque.

Later on Saturday evening, the team were panicking as they were 30mins behind schedule to get from Oldham Mosque to Blackpool Mosque within a time frame of an hour however the team made it miraculously on time! Despite driving through torrential rain and strong winds on the way to Edinburgh for the dawn prayers, it was an amazing feeling to reach the Blackpool Mosque with 5mins to spare – the relief on the faces of the guys were priceless. On Sunday, the team were looking forward to completing the challenge and heading off to home-sweet-home, Holborn Mosque. The team arrived on time for the night prayers and were greatly received by many local young brothers who were very proud of the teams achievement.

The entire journey was witnessed by thousands through instant video updates uploaded onto Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. This allowed supporters to experience the amazing and beautiful encounters the team were facing including the glamorous mosques and warm people.

Abdulla Al Mamun, the project manager, said “We appreciate and are very grateful in meeting various communities as the brothers were very welcoming and gave us support, shared kind words and more importantly made arrangements for food!”

Driving over 1100 miles, under the sun, rain and turbulent winds as well as sleeping in the car where most days and nights were spent driving has been an overwhelming experience for the team; but seeing the Muslim communities in their own areas, from all backgrounds, including the Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Guajarati, Middle eastern communities living together in harmony was a truly beautiful and heart-warming experience and it showed the essence of Islam, peace and brotherhood. The team witnessed and felt the strong Muslim community presence and how integral the Muslim Community is part of the British society.

We would like to thank all our supporters who have donated to our cause, and insha’Allah we hope to continue to seek the pleasure of Allah SWT through the 3 E’s… Empowering; Educating; and Engaging the Muslims.” He further added “We hope to do something even bigger and better next year so watch this space…”.

A final figure will be published through their website and Facebook by early June. All funds raised will be used towards the local innovative dawah work they do in Central London. The Aftermath of The Big Fight

Holborn Muslim Circles staged their first event of 2011 tilted “The Big Fight – Imam Mehdi vs Dajjal” after a massive re-branding and complete new look. The event was a big knock-out with a full house at the Conway Hall in Central London, which attracted more attention than the organisers had anticipated. The interest came from not only public individuals but also the media, and on the day Iqra TV (sky channel 826) filmed the event to broadcast.

The evening was balanced with presentations, mild entertainment and refreshments. Both guest speakers discussed their respective areas on the theme; with Br Muhammad Abul Kalam discussing the issues concerning the signs of the end of time and the arrival of dajjal. Whilst Imam Abdullah Al Hasan focused on the arrival of Imam Mehdi and I’sa (Jesus) peace be upon him. The event consisted of a performance from nasheed artist and poet; ‘Ummah Movement’. In addition, a presentation by Shamiul Joarder, from Friends of Al Aqsa, on their “Check the Label campaign”, an initiative to support Palestinians. Furthermore, two very inspirational and motivational testimonials by Holborn Muslim Circles volunteers; Abdullah Almamun and Tanveer Yahya, encouraging attendees to be active in Islamic and community work followed by a short clip of what Holborn Muslim Circles is about and some of the activities and events that had been organised to date.

Holborn Muslim Circles Taking it all off!

A group of adventurous young men from the community organisation, Holborn Muslim Circles (HMC), raised well over £2000 for the East London Mosque Phase 2 Extension Project. The young men turned to their friends, family and colleagues to smash their target by promising to shave their hair off if the target was reached. In the space of a few weeks the target was met and thus they took it all off on the 12th of September. They shaved their hair off front of a large crowd at the Eid Festival behind the London Muslim Centre.

Abdulla Almamun, the youth secretary from HMC said, “it is all for a good cause and we hope that through this fun way in raising money, we can inspire others to get involved and do even more crazy and creative things”.
