To love this man we must know him. We must find out about him. We must know about his character. We must know about his speech. We must know about his interaction with the people in Makkah and Madinah. Only then will we love the Man that was the walking, living Qur’an, the man that was the seal of all the prophets, the man that was called Muhammad (pbuh), the Mercy to Mankind.

Join us on this evening of enlightenment and inspiration to learn about the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). We shall be finding out how he used to spend his days whilst worshipping Allah swt. We will covering topics like his remarkable character, his interaction with the men, women and children of Makkah and Madinah, how he used to engage in the worship of Allah swt and we shall be going over famous ahadith and much much more.

Love Allah and His Beloved Prophet more than anything else in this world (Surah At-Taubah 9, verse 24)

Holborn Muslim Circles and Children of Adam teamed up again for another evening to deliver their ‘Feed thy Neighbour’ event on Sunday 24^th of February at London’s Lincoln Inn Fields. Around 80 homeless and less fortunate people were able to benefit from the free hot food, hot drinks and free clothes including woolly hats, and scarves. These items were all donated by generous volunteers, friends, and family.

Promptly at 5.45pm Holborn Muslim Circles and Children of Adam set up stalls as the queues of homeless and less fortunate people were growing. It was really encouraging to see a group of young people take lead of the whole event, from start to finish. They took lead of the food and also got involved in taking lead of serving the hot food and maintaining queues.

The bitterly cold weather did not deter volunteers to come on the night– with around 15 ready to give their services where necessary. The event always generates a lot of interest from media, TV and local people and yet again it was a great night and very successful. The homeless and less fortunate were appreciative of the work and effort of the volunteers, ‘I really appreciate these guys coming in this cold and offering free hot food and drinks. May God bless them all’ said Joe who resides at a local hostel.

We would like to thank Children of Adam who allowed us to team up with them again and the families that cooked the delicious lentil soup, rice and pasta for the homeless and less fortunate people on the night. 

Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) said “O people! Spread the greeting of peace, feed (the poor and needy), behave kindly to your relatives, offer prayer when others are asleep, and (thus) enter Paradise in peace.”

Every year, Israel exports millions of pounds worth of dates to the world, which Muslims unknowingly buy and use to break their fasts. These dates are grown inillegal settlements in the West Bank and the Jordan Valley, on land that has been stolen from Palestinians. By buying these dates, we are in fact helping Israel to continue its occupation and oppression of our brothers and sisters in Palestine

For this reason, Friends of Al-Aqsa will be launching the fourth annual Boycott Israeli Dates campaign: ‘Check the Label’.

Over the past few years we have had a great amount of success ranging from wholesalers ceasing to import dates from Israel, shops refusing to stock Israeli dates and even international companies severing ties with Israeli companies. All of this was possible because of volunteers taking the campaign into their communities.

With your help, we have informed hundreds of thousands of people about the campaign to Check the Label and Boycott Israeli Dates, and as a result, they did not break their fast with an Israeli date.

Friends of Al-Aqsa are recruiting Check the Label ambassadors in every area to help deliver the campaign successfully.

Stage One

We have already been in touch with wholesalers requesting they do not import dates from Israel, West Bank or Jordan Valley. However we need your help to take this campaign to local grocery shops, by doing the following:

1. Identify Muslim grocery shops in your area and then print and hand deliver theFOA shop owner letter to the manager. The letter requests shop owners not to stock dates from Israel, West Bank and Jordan Valley during Ramadhan. If you are unable to print the letter please email the shop’s address to info@foa.org.ukand we will send them the letter.

2. Explain to the shop owner that West Bank and Jordan Valley are illegally occupied and buying dates from there would mean they are supporting the occupation of Palestine.

3. Make a personal request to them to join the campaign against oppression.

Stage Two

Unfortunately there will be many shops still stocking Israeli dates, so we need your help to inform consumers not to buy them. We will launch stage two in May to raise awareness of the Check the Label – Boycott Israeli Dates campaign in the community. We need your help to organise the campaign in your area.

1. Let us know if you will be able to raise the campaign’s profile in your area. Email your name and area to info@checkthelabel.org.uk. We will need your help to put up posters in shops and mosques, as well as to distribute leaflets at your local mosque after as many prayers as possible, especially Jummah.

2. Please print and hand deliver FOA’s letter for mosques and community organisations. The letter requests mosques and community organisations to support the campaign.

The Day of Judgement

Al-Hamdulilah, we had a great turnout with many local people, mainly young people attending on the night. In addition to this we had Holborn Muslim Circles volunteers help with setting up the venue, help with the refreshments and stewarding on the night. The talk began with the recitation of Surah Al-Qiyyama recited by young Tanveer Yahya to set the the scene and context of the topic of the night.

The talks were delivered Iman Abdul Malik (Imam of the Holborn Mosque) and Shaykh Shams Ad Duha (Principle of Ebrahim College) both of which were inspirational, informative and emotional. The event was a great success with over 120 people attending on the night.

‘Our Lord, surely You will gather the people for a Day about which there is no doubt. Indeed, God does not fail in His promise.’ (Qur’an 3:9)

On this Day every being that has ever lived on earth will be gathered for their final Judgement. Join us to learn about the events of that Day including standing only 1 mile from the sun, being given our records of deeds, having witnesses testify for and against us and much more.

“And you will see each nation humbled to their knees (kneeling), each nation will be called to its Record (of deeds). This Day you shall be recompensed for what you used to do.” (Qur’an 45:28)

Speakers

Imam Abdullah Hasan
Graduated with an Imam Diploma, BA and Ijaza Aliyah in Islamic Studies from the European College for Islamic Studies (Wales). Abdullah Hasan has been involved with grass roots da’wah organisation in the UK since 1998 and has been active in the community. He has a diploma in counselling psychology specialising in youth and marriage counselling, is an Islamic advisor at Nour Domestic Violence charity.

Shaykh Shams Ad Duha
He is hafiz of the Qur’an which he memorised partly in his own locality and then completed at the famous Darul Uloom in Dewsbury (Institute of Islamic Education). After memorising the Holy Quran, he continued at the same institute and studied Arabic language, Tajweed, Fiqh and other subjects in the early years of the Dars Nizami curriculum . In December 2002, along with other respected Ulama Sheikh Shams founded Ebrahim College and is currently serving as the Director of Education and lecturing on various Islamic sciences.

How can one make the Prophet (saw) dearer than his own children if he does not know the Prophet (saw), how he behaved and interacted with his family, friends, and adversaries? To love the Prophet (saw) is to also love his noble character, way of living, and to love that which he loved.

r Paradise in peace

On the 22^nd of April Holborn Muslim Circles was happy to once again help Children of Adam at their ‘Feed thy neighbour’ event, a weekly event that takes place at Lincoln’s Inn every Sunday afternoon, where food is shared with the homeless and less fortunate. This was HMC’s second time helping Children of Adam and the team at Holborn Muslim Circles were determined once again to ensure that they were able to help as much as they could, to help the less fortunate that come to this fantastic initiative.

One of the highlights from the previous event, held earlier in the year, was the warm welcoming environment that was present on the then cold bitter day. The youth amongst the group left that day with a very strong lesson that life is not always easy, and you should always appreciate the lives of those less fortunate then yourselves. With this in mind the youth took it upon their shoulder to deliver the second round event of ‘Feed thy Neighbour’ – Part Deux!

The team made their preparations, with each young person delegated the task of asking their fabulous mothers for one dish of food each. Graciously all mothers happily hand cooked the food and prepared it for the event.

Both volunteers and locals enjoyed a nice hot meal and engaged in friendly conversation, and the day concluded with every one leaving very happy and cheerful. Another successful event in the bag ‘Feed thy neighbour’ -part three soon to come, so watch this space!
